Product Description
Common use
Oxytrol contains oxybutynin and is used to treat treating bladder spasms, overactive bladder (frequent or urgent urination, increased nighttime urination, urine leakage). Oxytrol blocks acetylcholine which binds with receptors of bladder muscles causing their contraction.
Dosage and direction
Take 5 mg immediate-release tablets of Oxytrol 2-4 times a day. Starting dose for elderly patients is 2.5 mg. Take extended-release tablets once daily. Oxytrol tablets can be taken with or without food. Do not crush, chew or broke the tablet.
Precautions
This medication may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Oxytrol impairs ability to high concentration of attention. Carefulness is needed while driving or any hazardous activity which requires alertness and ability to see clearly. Avoid drinking of alcoholic beverages to avoid worsening of side effects. Do not become overheated or dehydrated in hot weather or during exercise. Drink plenty of water while you are Oxytrol. Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis, an enlarged prostate, an intestinal disorder (ulcerative colitis), problems with stomach (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or slow digestion, pregnant, plan to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
